My room was essentially two cells - one my bedroom and one my bathroom. Complete with a gorgeous drench shower and fun toiletries...o and my glimpse of the outside world through what would have been barred windows.

Life at the Mal

I love a quirky hotel or restaurant and Malmaison in Oxford is no exception. It's a unique boutique hotel in the centre of Oxford, formally a Victorian prison transformed into historic luxury.
Last time I'd stayed in one of the 'House of Correction' rooms, but this time was delighted to be staying back in the A-wing in one of the converted cell rooms.
Walking to your room is an experience - it's like being in (a well-furnished!) Alcatraz or stepping back in time on your journey to your cell door as you gaze up at the impressive structure.

Apart from the room, it's also worth mentioning the delicious breakfast...I opted for the decadent waffles with bacon and maple syrup as the perfect start to the day.
