We woke to an overcast grey day in our underdeveloped tropical
paradise. Louise (the roomie) and I went
to get breakfast at a local coffee shop, where we would quickly become ‘regulars’,
despite the large amounts of mangey dogs circling our feet – one we were
convinced was on his last legs...until he creepily found us again later in the
day!
For breakfast I opted for acai once again, this time mixed
with granola and honey plus a peppermint tea.
Then our group decided to go for a 3 hours jungle trek from
one side of the protected island to the other, over and through the local
protected forests. Our destination was
the “Lopes Mendes” beach, ranked in Brazil’s Top 10.
Despite the weather, on arrival we headed for the water,
playing in the waves and building sandcastles.
Then some of us caught water taxis back to the main beach –
driven by an eccentric local man with loud party tunes!
Back to our coffee shop for an afternoon snack of pizza
bread, coconut cake and hot chocolates followed by hot showers to thaw out.
Later we met up with another GAdventures group for an
all-you-can-eat BBQ and all-you-can-drink Caipirinhas dinner, where the morning’s
manky dog reappeared!
