Day 12: 2013 Autumn Travels [Brazil,
Paraguay, Argentina à
Uruguay]
I’d reached the
halfway point of my trip so it was great to mark it by doing an incredible feat
and visiting four countries within 24 hours – not many people can say they’ve achieved
that!
After having
breakfast (including some dulce de leche, caramel, paste) in our Brazilian
hotel, we headed to Paraguay for some tax-free shopping! Paraguay is a poor landlocked country in
South America, sometimes called “Corazón de América (Heart of America) due
to its location. On the way, our bus
driver taught us some of the indigenous Guarani language.
Paraguay was busy
and full of street vendors and market stalls.
I went techno
and bought some iPod speakers and an iPad keyboard, unleashing my Spanish and
negotiation skills on the locals!
Then we headed
back to Brazil where we stocked up on snacks (including Brazil nuts!) for our
upcoming 15 hour overnight bus ride through Argentina into Uruguay.
A cheeky
ice-cream at the bus station (dulce de leche and fruit) was a delicious
good-bye to Brazil before boarding our countryside bound double-decker bus...
