These treats are great for kids - and adults too! They are also a great way to use up ripening bananas and a clever alternative to ice-cream.
They are also super simple to make.
Just melt some chocolate (either in the microwave, or as I do, in a bain marie - a bowl over hot water)…
Chop your bananas into half and skewer onto lolly sticks and place on parchment/greaseproof paper.
Select your decorations / flavour - I chose SUPERGOODFRUITS wild blackberry smoothie powder, as it’s a gorgeous colour and flavour, plus blackberries are full of vitamin C and fibre…in my head this balances out the white chocolate ;)
Then simply coat the banana halves in the melted chocolate.
I find it best to dip the tops into the chocolate and then use a spoon to drizzle down the sides. Let any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl before you place it onto the parchment paper.
Then decorate!
Finally, pop them into the freezer overnight.
The tricky part is waiting to eat them, but it’s worth it. Something magic happens in the freezer and the bananas become ice-cream like and the chocolate hardens, turning these into creamy choc ices.
This is a delicious summer dessert which is kid friendly!
I’ve covered the whole lolly in chocolate here, but you can just dip the tops if you want to reduce the sugar.
Ingredients
- SUPERGOODFRUITS smoothie powder (I used wild blackberry, but they have a great range to choose from here)
- ripe bananas (as many as you want to do)
- 100g chocolate (this was enough for 3 bananas)
- lolly sticks
