Inspired once more by Deliciously Ella, I chose to make her ‘healthiest chocolate mousse’ recipe.
This was to follow our distinctly non-vegan main course.
What stuck me about the recipe was the ingredients! The base is avocado and banana. Yes you read that right…avocado!
Fortunately that random savoury ingredient is hidden by the sweet banana-date combination and the rich bitter chocolate powder.
Plus chia seeds, flax seeds, almond mousse and agave syrup.
You simply through all the ingredients into a blender, add a little water and mix!
As Ella says, you get lots of goodness in these desserts:
“lots of fantastic plant protein form the almond butter, wonderfully anti-inflammatory fats and vitamins from the avocado, tons of heart healthy potassium from the banana, toxin preventing anti-oxidants from the super food cacao and all-important fibre from the dates.”
I added some coconut flakes and chopped pistachio nuts into the mixture as well.
Unfortunately we were pretty full after our steak dinner to really appreciate the dessert as it was a very rich thick mousse. But a couple of spoonfuls was a nice finish to a tasty evening.
