Monreale, Sicily

From Palermo you can get a local bus up to Monreale.
This town sits on a hill, giving beautiful views of La Conca d’Oro Valley.
It’s only 8km west of Palermo so isn’t too far a trip if you want to get out of the city.
Monreale is famous for its 12th century Norman cathedral with Arabic and Byzantine architecture….and stunning glass mosaics.
Apart from the cathedral, there isn’t a lot to do in the town, so after a little wander around it was snack time before heading back to Palermo.
